Frequently asked questions

Is break time included in total working hours?
No. Total hours cover the entire span from start to end time, while actual hours subtract the break time from that total. Pay calculations and overtime status are based on actual hours, not total hours.
What determines whether the result shows "Overtime"?
Under Article 50 of Korea's Labor Standards Act, actual working hours exceeding 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week are flagged as overtime. With mutual agreement, up to 12 additional hours per week are allowed, for a maximum of 52 hours weekly.
Why is monthly actual hours calculated using 4.345 weeks?
A month averages 4.345 weeks (365 days ÷ 7 days ÷ 12 months), so multiplying weekly actual hours by 4.345 gives a close approximation of average monthly working hours.
What's the legally required minimum break time?
Under the Labor Standards Act, workers must get at least 30 minutes of break for a 4-hour shift and at least 1 hour for an 8-hour shift, and must be free to use that time as they wish.
Can I calculate exact pay, including overtime premiums, from this result alone?
No. This calculator only estimates working hours and does not include the extra pay required for overtime, night work, or holiday work. Use a dedicated attendance/payroll system for accurate pay calculations.
