GUIDE

Reference notes

01

Enter calories on a matching unit basis

Write the unit in each ingredient name, then enter quantity used and calories per that unit. For example, Rice (serving), 3, 200 means three servings at 200 kcal each.

02

Total and per-serving calories

The calculator multiplies quantity by calories per unit for every line, adds the ingredient calories, and divides the recipe total by the number of servings.

03

Account for the recipe you actually make

Brand values, drained weight, cooking yield, oil left in the pan, and portion size can change the result. Use data that matches the prepared recipe and serving definition.

04

Check ingredients that are easy to miss

Review cooking oil, sauces, dressings, toppings, drinks, and tasting portions before using the total. Small high-calorie additions can materially change the per-serving result.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use raw or cooked ingredient values?
Use the value that matches the quantity you entered. Do not pair a cooked weight with calories based on raw weight.
How are calories per serving calculated?
The calculator divides total recipe calories by the entered number of servings.
Why can the result differ from a nutrition app?
Ingredient databases, brands, cooking yield, and rounding can differ. Keep the source and unit basis consistent for each line.
