China Employee Pension Component Calculator

Estimate two employee-pension components from values you have confirmed with the relevant social-security authority. This calculator does not decide your retirement age or eligibility.

What this bounded estimate does

Personal-account component = entered personal-account balance ÷ entered payout-month divisor. Basic component = (entered local average wage + entered indexed monthly wage) ÷ 2 × recognised contribution years × 1%. Some people may also have a transitional component or other adjustments; this tool does not calculate them. From 2025, statutory retirement ages change gradually by birth month and worker category. From 2030, the minimum contribution period for a monthly basic pension rises gradually from 15 to 20 years. Confirm your cohort, category, retirement date, recognised contribution record and local inputs with the official service before relying on this estimate.

Primary context: State Council gradual-retirement decision and schedules and the Shanghai employee-pension formula and payout-month table. The formula inputs and any additional component depend on the administering locality and your record.

01

Retirement age is cohort-specific

China began a gradual statutory-retirement-age change on 1 January 2025. The schedule differs by birth month and by the worker category whose former statutory age was 60, 55 or 50. This calculator therefore does not infer a statutory retirement date from a single age selection.

02

Eligibility is separate from the amount formula

The nationwide decision keeps the minimum contribution period at 15 years through 2029 and raises it by six months a year from 2030 until it reaches 20 years in 2039. Other conditions and local administration still matter. A numerical result is not an eligibility decision.

03

Use official account and wage values

The personal-account balance includes credited amounts and returns recorded by the authority; it is not reconstructed here from a current salary. The indexed wage and applicable local average wage also come from the administering rules and contribution history. Enter those confirmed values rather than a guessed current salary.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculator determine when I can retire?
No. Check the official cohort schedule and your worker category. Flexible-retirement choices and local handling can also affect the date.
Does a result mean I qualify for a monthly pension?
No. Eligibility and recognised contribution periods must be confirmed by the social-security authority. The minimum period begins increasing in 2030.
Why does the calculator ask for a payout-month divisor?
The official divisor varies with the age used for benefit calculation. Enter the divisor confirmed for your retirement case instead of letting the calculator assume an old fixed retirement age.
