01

Automatically Calculate All Pyramid Values

A pyramid is a three-dimensional shape consisting of a polygonal base and an apex. This calculator automatically calculates volume, surface area, and slant height by just entering the base length, width, and height. This shape frequently appears in architecture and math problems, like the Egyptian pyramids.

02

Using Mathematically Accurate Formulas

Volume is calculated using the formula (base length × width × height) / 3. Slant height is calculated using the Pythagorean theorem, and surface area is the sum of base area and four lateral face areas. Provides precise 3D calculations.

03

Essential Tool for Architecture and Design

Pyramid shapes are widely used in architecture and design, such as roof structures, decorative sculptures, and packaging boxes. Calculate accurate volume and surface area to determine material quantities and costs.

04

Easy to Understand with Visual 3D Diagrams

Visually displays the three-dimensional shape of the pyramid with an SVG 3D wireframe. Base, height, and slant edges are clearly marked, making it intuitively understandable.

05

Optimized for Math Education

Useful for students learning volume and surface area of solid shapes. You can see in real-time how volume changes as you vary base size and height, helping to develop spatial awareness.

06

Supports Both Mobile and Desktop

Responsive design allows convenient use on smartphones, tablets, and desktops anywhere. Calculate on-site immediately or use as educational material in the classroom.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the volume of a pyramid?
Use the formula Volume = (base length × base width × height) ÷ 3. For example, with a 10×10 base and a height of 12, the volume is (10×10×12)÷3 = 400.
Why does the calculator show two different slant heights?
A pyramid with a rectangular base can have a different slope along its length and its width. Each is computed separately using the Pythagorean theorem with the height and half of the corresponding base side, so two values are shown.
How is the surface area calculated?
Surface area is the base area plus the areas of all four triangular lateral faces. Each lateral face area is computed using the slant height, then all five faces are summed.
Can I calculate a pyramid with a rectangular (non-square) base, like the Egyptian pyramids?
Yes. Enter different values for base length and base width to get a rectangular-base pyramid. If length and width are equal, it becomes a square pyramid.
What units should I use for input?
The calculator does not fix a unit, so enter any consistent unit such as cm or m. The volume result will be in that unit cubed, and the surface area in that unit squared.
