How to Use

01

How to Use the Blackjack Trainer

Look at the dealer's upcard and your two cards, then pick the optimal action under H17 basic strategy. You can use the keyboard shortcuts H (Hit), S (Stand), D (Double), P (Split), R (Surrender). After you answer, the trainer instantly shows whether you were right, the correct action, a short explanation and approximate win rates per action, then deals the next hand automatically. Repeat until you reach 100% accuracy.

02

Strategy Order of Operations

Basic strategy is always evaluated in the same order. First check whether surrender is correct, then whether to split a pair, then whether to double down, and finally decide between hit and stand. Internalizing this order lets you recall the right play quickly for any hand.

03

What is the H17 Rule?

This trainer assumes the dealer must hit a soft 17 (for example A+6), known as H17. H17 favors the dealer and raises the house edge by about 0.22%, affecting soft-hand doubling and some surrender decisions.

04

Why Memorize Basic Strategy

Basic strategy is the set of highest-expected-value actions for every hand-versus-dealer combination, derived from millions of simulations. Following the chart instead of intuition minimizes the house edge. This trainer's instant feedback and explanations build that intuition faster than rote-memorizing the chart.

Strategy Order of Operations

  1. Check if you should surrender first
  2. Then check if you should split pairs
  3. Then check if you should double down
  4. Finally decide to hit or stand
