What is a Timecard Calculator?

This calculator lets you enter clock-in and clock-out times plus break minutes for Monday through Sunday, then automatically totals your actual worked hours per day and for the whole week. Your entries are saved only in your browser, so you can pick up right where you left off on your next visit.

How Overnight Shifts and Overtime Are Calculated

If your clock-out time is earlier than your clock-in time (for example, in at 22:00 and out at 06:00), the calculator treats it as an overnight shift and adds 24 hours automatically. When your weekly total exceeds the overtime threshold you set (default 40 hours), the excess is shown separately as overtime.

MetricFormula
Daily hours(clock-out − clock-in) − break minutes, +24h if overnight
Weekly totalSum of Mon–Sun daily hours
Regular hoursmin(weekly total, overtime threshold)
Overtime hoursmax(weekly total − overtime threshold, 0)

How Estimated Pay Is Calculated

Estimated pay = regular hours × hourly wage + overtime hours × hourly wage × overtime multiplier. The multiplier defaults to 1.5x and can be edited. The calculator works with plain numbers regardless of currency, so you can enter your wage in any currency and read the result the same way.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if clock-out is earlier than clock-in?
The calculator treats it as an overnight shift crossing midnight and automatically adds 24 hours. For example, clocking in at 22:00 and out at 06:00 is calculated as 8 hours.
Is my data saved anywhere?
Yes, all entries are stored only in your browser's local storage and are never sent to a server. Revisiting with the same browser restores your saved values.
Do overtime rules and multipliers vary by country?
Yes, legal overtime thresholds (e.g., 40 or 44 hours/week) and pay multipliers vary by country and employment contract. This tool is for reference only - please check your local labor law and contract for actual figures.
What does the "Copy row above" button do?
It copies the clock-in, clock-out, and break minutes from the row directly above into the current row, which is handy when your schedule repeats day to day.
