Use this to calculate an artwork file with bleed and an inner safe area from a business card, flyer, or poster trim size. Enter width, height, and margin in the same unit.
The bleed size adds the margin twice to each dimension; the safe area subtracts it twice. A 3 mm margin therefore increases both file dimensions by 6 mm.
A 210 by 297 mm A4 trim with 3 mm bleed becomes a 216 by 303 mm file. Treat the 204 by 291 mm inner result as a starting safe area for important text.
Printers specify different bleed and safety values, while binding and die cuts may need asymmetric margins. This tool applies one value to all edges, so follow the production brief.
