🌸 Ovulation Calculator

Enter the start date of your last period and your average cycle length to estimate your ovulation day, fertile window, and next period date.

⚠️ Medical Disclaimer

This calculator provides a statistical estimate based on average cycle patterns β€” actual ovulation timing varies with individual health, stress, and hormonal factors. Do not use this as a method of contraception β€” ovulation-based estimates have very low reliability for pregnancy prevention. For accurate ovulation confirmation, use basal body temperature tracking, ovulation predictor kits, or an ultrasound from your OB-GYN, and always consult a healthcare professional for family planning or contraception needs.

01

How Is Ovulation Day Calculated?

Estimated ovulation day = last period start date + (cycle length βˆ’ 14 days)

Example: period start June 20, cycle length 28 days
Ovulation day = June 20 + (28βˆ’14) = July 4

Because the luteal phase (ovulation to next period) is fairly consistent at ~14 days, counting backward from the next expected period is often more accurate than counting forward from the last one.
02

What Is the Fertile Window?

The fertile window accounts for sperm survival (up to 5 days) and egg viability (about 24 hours) β€” it spans from 5 days before ovulation to 1 day after. Conception odds are typically highest 1-2 days before ovulation.
03

What if My Cycle Is Irregular?

If your cycle length varies significantly month to month, this calculator's predictions become less reliable. Use your average over the last 3-6 months, and consider confirming ovulation with an ovulation predictor kit or basal body temperature charting. If your cycles are very irregular (e.g. due to PCOS), consult an OB-GYN.
04

Maximizing Your Chances of Conception

If you're trying to conceive, having intercourse during the fertile window β€” especially the 2 days before ovulation through ovulation day β€” improves your odds. Individual variation is significant, so tracking a few cycles helps reveal your own pattern.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this calculator for contraception?
No. Ovulation calculations are a statistical average and have very low reliability as a contraception method. If you need contraception, use a proven method and consult a healthcare professional.
What if I don't know my exact cycle length?
Track your period start dates over the last 3-6 months and average them. If your cycle varies a lot, pair this estimate with an ovulation predictor kit or basal body temperature tracking for better accuracy.
Is the ovulation day the same as the day I'm most likely to conceive?
Not necessarily. Because sperm can survive in the reproductive tract for several days, intercourse 1-2 days before ovulation also carries high conception odds β€” that's why the whole fertile window (5 days before to 1 day after ovulation) matters, not just the single day.
I already know I'm pregnant β€” what should I use instead?
If pregnancy is confirmed, use the pregnancy calculator to estimate your due date and current week.
