What is the Pythagorean Theorem?
The Pythagorean theorem is a fundamental mathematical principle stating that in a right triangle, the square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of the squares of the other two sides. Expressed as a² + b² = c², where c is the hypotenuse and a and b are the sides forming the right angle. Named after the Greek mathematician Pythagoras from the 6th century BC, it is one of the most important theorems in mathematics.
