    What is a business day?

A business day is a day on which companies and institutions normally operate — generally Monday through Friday, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Contract deadlines, expected delivery dates, payment processing, and administrative turnaround times are usually calculated in business days.

    How the calculation works

Add Business Days: starting from the day after the start date, the calculator steps forward one day at a time, skipping Saturdays, Sundays, and any holidays you've added, until it reaches the Nth business day. If N is negative, it steps backward instead.

Count Business Days: counts the number of days between the start and end dates (both inclusive) that fall on Monday-Friday and are not in your holiday list.

Example: adding 5 business days to Monday, July 6, 2026 skips the weekend (Jul 11-12) and lands on Monday, July 13, 2026. Counting business days from Monday, July 6, 2026 to Friday, July 10, 2026 gives 5 business days (Mon-Fri).

    Why you add holidays manually

This is a global version of the tool, not tied to any specific country, so it does not automatically include any country's public holidays. Since holiday dates and counts vary by country, you need to add your region's or company's non-working days manually for an accurate business-day calculation. If you need Korean public holidays applied automatically, use the Workday·Holiday Calculator.

    Frequently asked questions

Are Korean public holidays applied automatically?
No. This is a global version that is not tied to any specific country, so holidays are not applied automatically. If you need Korean public holidays applied automatically, use the Workday·Holiday Calculator (/kr/workday-calculator). On this page, you can add holidays manually to the list to include them in the calculation.
Is my added holiday list saved?
Yes, it is saved in your browser's local storage, so it will still be there the next time you visit from the same browser. It is not shared across different devices or browsers.
What happens if I enter a negative number for Add Business Days?
A negative number calculates business days backward from the start date. For example, entering -5 calculates the date 5 business days before the start date.
