GUIDE

What to check before using it

01

When this tool is useful

Use this to reduce a photo to black and white masses for a paper-cut or stencil draft. A source with strong separation between subject and background works best.

02

How the result is produced

Pixels are converted to grayscale and split into black or white at a fixed brightness of 128. The tool does not add bridges for isolated islands or account for a real blade width.

03

Worked example and interpretation

Convert a side-profile photo and check whether the nose and chin remain one readable mass. Add connecting bridges in an editor for eye or mouth islands that would otherwise fall out.

04

Scope and limitations

A readable screen image is not automatically a cuttable stencil. Review material thickness, minimum line width, bridges, copyright, and trademark permission before production.

Frequently asked questions

Does Stencil image generator send my upload to a server?
No. Image reading and canvas processing currently happen in the browser. On a shared device, also manage downloaded files and browser history appropriately.
Does Stencil image generator preserve the original resolution?
No. Processing uses a fixed preview canvas for performance, so it is not an archival conversion or a replacement for full-resolution editing.
Can I use a PNG from Stencil image generator commercially?
The tool grants no rights to the source. Upload material you are allowed to use and review copyright, trademarks, and final production quality yourself.
