GUIDE

What to check before using it

01

When this tool is useful

Use this to test whether a photo or sketch reads at low resolution or to make a rough pixel-art starting point. Changing the level control changes the block size.

02

How the result is produced

The source is drawn into a smaller temporary canvas, then enlarged with image smoothing disabled. Square pixels simplify the shape, but the process does not perform strict palette optimization.

03

Worked example and interpretation

Convert a character photo into large blocks and check whether the face, hair, and clothing remain distinct. Move the PNG into a pixel editor to clean the outline and palette by hand.

04

Scope and limitations

Automatic scaling cannot place intentional single-pixel details or stair-step curves. A production sprite still needs a fixed canvas, a controlled palette, and manual pixel cleanup.

Frequently asked questions

Does Pixel art converter send my upload to a server?
No. Image reading and canvas processing currently happen in the browser. On a shared device, also manage downloaded files and browser history appropriately.
Does Pixel art converter preserve the original resolution?
No. Processing uses a fixed preview canvas for performance, so it is not an archival conversion or a replacement for full-resolution editing.
Can I use a PNG from Pixel art converter commercially?
The tool grants no rights to the source. Upload material you are allowed to use and review copyright, trademarks, and final production quality yourself.
