01

When an online notepad is useful

This tool is handy whenever you need a notepad you can open instantly with no sign-up. Jot down ideas during a meeting, temporarily hold a block of text you want to paste elsewhere, or keep track of links, code snippets, or to-dos. Just open the page and start typing β€” no login screen in the way.

02

Autosave and 3 independent tabs

About 0.5 seconds after you stop typing, the current tab's content is saved automatically, and the toolbar shows a status like "Saved β€’ HH:MM:SS". There are three tabs β€” Note 1, Note 2, and Note 3 β€” each saved and restored independently. For example, use Note 1 for meeting notes, Note 2 for a draft, and Note 3 as a scratch pad. Reload or revisit the page later and each tab's last saved content is restored automatically.

03

Privacy and storage β€” never sent to a server

This notepad stores your text only in the browser's localStorage. There is no sign-up, no login, no server transmission, and no sync feature of any kind. Because no network request is ever made, there is no way for your notes to leave your device. If someone else views this page, they cannot see your notes β€” only the same browser on the same device can.

04

Downloading and backing up your notes

For anything important, use the "Download as .txt" button in the toolbar to save the current tab's content as a file. The downloaded .txt file lives on your computer, so you can attach it to an email, upload it to cloud storage, or move it into any other note-taking app you like.

05

Caution: localStorage is not a permanent backup

Clearing your browser's history, cookies, and site data β€” or using private/incognito mode, or switching to a different browser or device β€” can erase your saved notes. localStorage is meant for working storage, not permanent backup, so always download anything important using the button above.

06

Tips for organizing your 3 tabs

Giving each tab a fixed purpose makes this much more useful. For example: Note 1 = today's to-do list, Note 2 = a draft in progress (email, article, idea), Note 3 = a scratch pad for pasted links or quick text. Live character and word counts are shown per tab, which is handy when checking against a social media limit or a document length target.

07

Storage space and character limits

Browser localStorage typically offers around 5-10MB of storage per domain. Three ordinary text notes are very unlikely to come close to that limit, so in practice you don't need to worry about a character cap. If you do work with very large amounts of text, it's still a good habit to download and archive it periodically.

Frequently asked questions

Do my notes sync across devices?
No. This notepad has no account or server storage, so it does not sync between devices. Notes stay only in the localStorage of the browser and device you typed them in. To use them elsewhere, download as .txt and transfer the file yourself.
Is there a limit on note size?
There's no hard character limit, but you're practically bounded by browser localStorage capacity (roughly 5-10MB per domain). Ordinary note-taking use is very unlikely to ever reach that ceiling.
How do I back up my notes?
Click "Download as .txt" in the toolbar to save the current tab's content as a text file. Since browser data can be cleared at any time, it's a good idea to download important notes periodically.
Are my notes private? Can anyone else see them?
Yes, they're private. Notes are stored only in your own browser, are never sent to any server, and there is no tracking or logging. Unless someone else has access to the same browser profile on the same computer, nobody else can see your notes.
