How to Calculate Tile Quantity (㎑)

㎑ (square meter) is the tile installation area, and calculating the required number of tiles is essential. Basic formula: Tiles needed = (Room area Γ· Tile area) Γ— 1.1 (10% waste). Example 1: Room 5m Γ— 4m = 20㎑, Tile 30cm Γ— 30cm = 0.09㎑ (0.3Γ—0.3). Tiles needed = (20 Γ· 0.09) Γ— 1.1 = 244 tiles. Example 2: Bathroom 2m Γ— 1.5m = 3㎑, Tile 20cm Γ— 20cm = 0.04㎑. Tiles needed = (3 Γ· 0.04) Γ— 1.1 = 83 tiles. Box ordering: Tiles are sold by the box. 30Γ—30cm tiles usually come 11 tiles per box (1㎑), 20Γ—20cm come 25 per box. For 244 tiles needed β†’ 244Γ·11 = 22.2 boxes β†’ Round up to 23 boxes.
