πŸ“ Midpoint Date Calculator

Calculate the exact midpoint date between a start and end date. Set the number of equal parts (N) to also see the boundary dates that split the range into N equal segments.

With N=2, the boundary list below matches the midpoint date. Increase N to split the range more finely.

    01

How is the midpoint date calculated?

The tool finds the total number of days between the start and end date, halves it, and adds that to the start date. If the total number of days is even, this divides evenly; if it is odd, the mathematically exact midpoint falls at noon (12:00) on a given day, and the tool rounds to the nearest day for the on-screen display.

    The N-equal-parts feature

Beyond a simple halfway point (2 equal parts), specifying N (2-10) shows the (N-1) boundary dates that split the range from start to end into N equal-length segments. For example, N=3 gives the 2 dates that divide the range into thirds, and N=4 gives the 3 dates that divide it into quarters. This is useful for splitting a project into evenly spaced phases or scheduling installment payments.

When the end date is before the start date

If the entered end date falls before the start date, this tool does not show an error β€” it automatically swaps the two dates for the calculation and notes that it did so. If the two dates are identical, the midpoint and every boundary date are shown as the same date you entered.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum value for N in equal parts?
N can be set from 2 to 10; values outside that range are automatically clamped to the nearest limit.
How is the midpoint shown when the total number of days is odd?
When the total days are odd, the mathematically exact midpoint falls at noon (12:00) on a given day. Since the display only shows a date, the tool rounds to the nearest day and also notes the exact midpoint in the copy.
Can I enter the start and end dates in reverse order?
Yes. If the end date is earlier than the start date, the tool automatically swaps the two dates for the calculation and shows a note that it did so.
