GUIDE

How travel date counting works

01

Trip days include the departure date

If departure and return are the same date, the trip is 0 nights and 1 day. The return date is the day you come back, not the last night.

02

Date math avoids DST shifts

The calculator uses UTC date serials so 23-hour or 25-hour local days do not move the result by one day.

03

You can also calculate the return date

When you know the departure date and the number of nights or days, the tool calculates the return date for checking flights and lodging.

04

Compare lodging dates

Verify actual check-in and checkout separately.

05

Use local dates

For date-line crossings, enter local itinerary dates.
