It shares the existing exchange-rate file
The tool uses the same exchange-rates.json as the site currency converter. If loading fails, it falls back to a bundled snapshot and shows that status.

Card fees and actual settlement rates are separate
The result is a reference-rate conversion. Foreign transaction fees, card settlement rates, and cash exchange spreads can change the actual amount charged.
