⚫⚪ Baduk (Go)

Baduk (Go) is a traditional Eastern strategic board game where Black and White alternately place stones to control more territory. Originating in China and spreading to Korea and Japan, it is one of the world's oldest board games with infinite variations within simple rules.

Stones are placed on board intersections. Completely surrounding opponent stones allows capturing them. Black starts first and players alternate placing one stone at a time. There are restrictions such as forbidden points (suicide moves) and ko rules. The game ends when both players pass.

Victory in Go is determined by territory and captured stones. Territory refers to the number of empty intersections completely surrounded by your stones. Black and white territory and captured stones are calculated separately and compared. White receives komi (usually 6.5 points) to compensate for black's first-move advantage. The player with the higher final score wins.

In Go, the opening involves expanding influence broadly, the middle game features battles, and the endgame secures territory. Understanding corner, edge, and center characteristics, and mastering fundamentals like life and death, shape, and reading ahead are essential. Both the big picture of overall position and local fighting must be considered.
